DAY 47 - 2016 WEIGHT LOSS AND BLOOD GLUCOSE CHALLENGE

January 11, 2016

Today is Day 47

Weight goal - 144.8 or lower
Actual weight - 145.2

Blood glucose goal - 89 or lower
Actual blood glucose - 77

Today is a Fast Day.  Two in a row!

For me, that means that all I will have today is water, coffee, tea, or broth, all without caloric sweeteners or fat.  Each day, I will weigh in, check my fasting blood glucose, find out if I will feast or fast that day, update my chart and post it here on the big blog. I'm posting it to motivate myself not to give up, and if I think that anyone is looking at this, it will help to keep me accountable.

This is a first.  I have to fast two days in a row.  Even though I drank only water, broth and coffee yesterday, and no artificial sweeteners, I retained water and did not lose my normal post-fast pound or two.

Yesterday, for the first time, I really struggled with fasting as the day went on.  By the end of the day, I almost gave in and ate something, but I stayed strong.  I just kept thinking that when I got up today, I would get to eat!  Then, no weight loss.  GRRR.  But, as the Dread Pirate Roberts would say, "Get used to disappointment."

I also thought that maybe I would change my rules so that I would not be required to fast more than every other day.  But, I really want to stay true to my rules, and I am more than half way to my end date.  Onward and downward!

46 DAYS DOWN AND  45 DAYS TO GO

34 FEAST DAYS AND 13 FAST DAYS - FASTING 28% OF THE DAYS

8.8 POUNDS GONE AND 9.2 POUNDS TO GO

49% OF THE WAY TO MY GOAL AFTER 52% OF THE DAYS

AVERAGE WEIGHT SO FAR - 147.5     AVERAGE BLOOD GLUCOSE SO FAR - 87

I made a few charts to track my progress.  The orange lines are my goals. The blue lines are my actual results.  The last chart is a little heat map to show at a glance how often I actually have to fast to achieve the results I am after.

This is a personal challenge just for me, but if anyone reading would like to join me, please talk to your doctor and make sure that it will not conflict with your current medical condition or medications.  If you are taking the challenge, please be sure to let me know how you are doing!  Thanks for reading!
