SHOULDER INJURY PHOTO

I took some photos this morning, and after I looked at them, I could see the misplacement of my shoulder. So I thought I would post a photo of it.  Also, you can't see it in the photo, but I noticed this morning that my bad arm is hanging in front of my body and out to the side, where my good arm hangs straight down and touches my body.  Like an arm should.

If you look at the top photos, the shoulders are symmetrical.   In the bottom photo, you can see that it is no longer so.  Also, in the bottom photo, it looks like my sports bra is on crooked, but it is not.  It looks that way because my right side is twisted to the front and it is pulling my spine to the right.  And it looks like my right shoulder is shrugging.

You know how you do the Hokey Pokey and you put your right shoulder in and put your right shoulder out?  The out position is the way the right shoulder is all the time.

  1. Yup, you do need to take care of that, I had not considered what it is doing to your spinal alignment, but you cant keep going with that kind of physical dysfunction going on or you will be have a chain reaction, so to speak, of new injuries.
Are they going to give you the pain meds through IV during the brutal PT sessions? See if they can add sedatives. (That's what they do for me when I have had the steroid injections in my lumbar spine)
I am thinking positive thoughts for your recovery.

  2. Thanks, Stephanie! I go back on Monday, and I will find out more about the meds they are suggesting and how they want to do things.

Right now, I am just being brutal to myself with home PT and trying to get things moving on my own.

  4. Yes, I am in pain daily. It is not bad if I am not moving. About a 3 out of 10. But when I move, it can get up to a 6, and when I do my home PT, it gets up to about an 8. And it is painful to sleep in any position.

You know that feeling you get (and I know that you do, Jim!) when you lift and then your arms feels like rubber? My arm feels like that all the time. If I walk around, I need to hold it with my other hand, because letting it hang feels weird.

    Onward and upward!
